Bringing together the brightest and most promising literary talents in Queensland and beyond, the premier youth literature festival will once again be happening on the Gold Coast.
Following its successful events last year and in the previous years, the Somerset Celebration of Literature will again be taking places on 18 to 20 March at Somerset College in Mudgeeraba. This literature fest will be remarkable cultural celebration that reaches beyond Somerset College to have the entire community involved.
This three-day festival will have more than 30 acclaimed authors from around Australia to perform interactive discussions and workshops that aim to inspire and delight children and adults alike. This event is also a great opportunity to meet and greet authors and illustrators, and even have your books signed by your favourite writers and authors. This is also serves as a festival dedicated to reading and writing.
Celebrating its 22nd year, the Somerset Celebration of Literature is set to follow last year’s successful event and this year, it expects more participants set to take part and engage in activities and presentations. During the previous year, there were some 56 schools with over 15,000 ticket sales thoughout the three days. Students eagerly participated in both the Somerset National Poetry Prize and the Somerset National Novella Writing Competition supported by Bond University and Penguin Group. For this year, the winners of the National Novella and Poetry Prize competitions will be featured.
Adults taking part in the festival can also expect more fun and inspiring activities throughout the festival. To be featured are panel sessions, workshops and heaps more. The Prologue Party, which is a fair-style event for the whole family will also be happening, and the Literary Lunch and Literary Long Table with Kári Gíslason as guest speaker will also be something to loof forward to.
